Gibson Kerr recently took part in the fund-raising campaign Will Aid 2011, which raised £2.1 million in donations – the biggest total the campaign has ever achieved.
Will Aid offers members of the public a wonderful opportunity to put their affairs in order, protect their loved ones’ future and give to charity at the same time. During November, participating solicitors agree to draw up basic wills without charging their normal fee. Instead they invite the will-maker to make a donation to Will Aid.
The suggested minimum donation is £85 for a single will and £125 for a pair of matching or “mirror” wills or £40 for a change to an existing will (codicil). All the money donated is shared between the nine participating charities that carry out life changing work here in the UK and around the world.
Last November, clients of Gibson Kerr helped to raise an impressive £820 for Will Aid 2011.
“The Will Aid charities are very grateful for the support and hard work of every solicitor who took part in the campaign to achieve such an impressive result,” said Shirley Marsland, Will Aid Campaign Manager. “The money raised will be shared by the charities and immediately put to work helping them improve the lives of many people in the UK and overseas.”
