Gibson Kerr took part in last year’s Will Aid campaign, and would like to thank all the clients who helped us raise an impressive £310 to help Will Aid’s nine chosen charities, which include Christian Aid, Save the Children and the British Red Cross.
Under the Will Aid scheme, participating solicitors draw up a basic Will and, instead of charging a fee, ask clients to make a donation to Will Aid instead.
As well as helping charity, the scheme also encourages people to make a will to ensure their family and loved ones are protected should the worst happen. Six in every ten people have not made a Will and they risk causing hardship and distress for those they love.
Altogether, Scottish solicitors raised over £200,000 for the 2012 Will Aid campaign, which took place in November. This fantastic Scottish total is a massive contribution to the £2 million or more that the campaign expects to raise across the UK.
“The Will Aid charities are very grateful for the support and hard work of every solicitor in Scotland who took part in the campaign and helped to achieve such an impressive result,” said Shirley Marsland, Will Aid Campaign Manager. “The money raised will be shared by the charities and immediately put to work helping them improve the lives of many people in the UK and overseas.”
