The University of Kansas (KU) has received a bequest of $1.36 million from the estate of a former alumnus and his wife.
John P. Kaiser graduated from KU with a degree in journalism in 1951. In 2005 the couple donated $500,000 to KU Endowment to establish the John P. Kaiser Journalism Scholarship Fund.
The scholarship has already apparently supported nine journalism students at the university, and the latest bequest left in Mr Kaiser’s will means this number can be doubled.
“We strive to provide as many of our students with assistance as possible,” said Ann Brill, dean of the William Allen White School of Journalism and Mass Communications. “To receive a gift of this magnitude and be able to look to the future knowing the significant impact this gift is going to mean to our students is truly inspirational.”
