Cancer foundation receives record breaking bequest
A cancer charity in British Columbia has received the largest charitable bequest ever made to a single beneficiary in the history of the province.
The BC Cancer Foundation has received a bequest of $21.4 million from the Jambor-McCarthy legacy to support the work of its cancer researchers and care providers. The gift was announced by William McCarthy, grandson of the late John Jambor and executor of his estate plan.
Douglas Nelson, President & CEO of the BC Cancer Foundation said, “The BC Cancer Foundation is honoured to be a part of John Jambor’s philanthropic legacy. Together, John Jambor and William McCarthy created a true legacy that will accelerate the most promising research initiatives at the BC Cancer Agency and in-turn inspire British Columbians to consider supporting our efforts to reach a world free from cancer.”
